Our Vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in developing programs that foster children's ethical, social, and intellectual development in Africa rural communities. We will also strive to deepen children's commitment to pro-social
and moral values such as kindness, helpfulness, personal responsibility, and respect for others.
During Summer 2006, Missionary Month at IRC church, a banner was placed under
both large screens displaying Acts 1-8b… “ye shall be witnesses unto me both in
Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the
earth”.
According to Ms. Doyce Hayth, the Pastor explained that Jerusalem would be like the
local area, Judaea would be like, Tampa Bay, Samaria
would be like, Florida, while the Uttermost part would be like, the
World. When the Pastor compared Jerusalem to our local area, I started praying
for God to use me in a Christian way in the LaPlaza Community where I reside, in
Clearwater. In the meantime, Mr. Michael DeRemer, IRC member, was praying to teach a
Bible Study and a mutual Christian friend introduced us. This lead to the
start of Laplaza Bible Study by Doyce Hayth in the Laplaza Community in October
2006. The Laplaza Bible study now continues to draw members from inside
and outside of Laplaza community.
In the Fall of 2007, Dr Rosaline Olade moved to Florida and bought a house in
the Laplaza Community , became a member of the bible study. She discussed her
Christian background and noted that she retired early from her professional job,
and hopes to serve the Lord, and prays for the Lord to show her the way.
Meanwhile she said she will be staying in Florida, and then will be going to
Nigeria to visit her mother and other siblings. In November 2007, Ms. Cathy
Hobson, a member of LaPlaza's Bible Study unexpectedly gave a donation to
Dr Rosaline Olade, which she wanted her to help give to orphanages while on her
vacation to Nigeria, Africa.
On her return trip, Dr Olade shared her experience of giving out the donation to two
orphanages, and how searching the community to deliver the donation gave her
more inspiration to serve the Lord. This donation became the planted seed of the
Holy Spirit that continued to motivate her to do more for the poor children in
rural areas of Africa. The Bible Study continued to pray for God to show her the
way. While the Bible Study prayed weekly about this, she also approached her
church for guidance, and after many phone calls and hours of internet
research about registration and financing, she officially founded the African
Good Samaritan Missions, Inc., in June 2008.
While the first Missionary seed by Ms.Cathy Hobson, was a donation in memory
of her departed parents, it has ignited the holy spirit to support the beginning this
Mission. In addition, the Lord has used all the members of the Laplaza Bible study as Prayer
Warriors to support this Mission. Mr. Bob Fix leads the Bible Study weekly and
members continue to pray for
the success of this mission.
